A Note from the Curators
We're not journalists, developers, or political professionals. We're Newport Beach residents who got curious about how to best research the candidates ahead of the November 2026 election. The more we looked, the more we realized we needed to get up to speed on what was already happening in our city, and then keep up with what's ongoing on City Council and beyond.
We used Claude (an AI research assistant) and Lovable (an AI website builder) to make this possible. We're not experts claiming special authority here, we're really just the conduit connecting these tools to our own hometown, gathering and organizing what's already public. Our goal starts with something simple: we wanted to be genuinely informed voters ourselves. If this makes that a little easier for our neighbors too, even better.
We feel privileged to have the right to vote, and we want to honor and respect everyone who gives their time to serve this city by showing up as smart, informed citizens ourselves.
We see this as an ongoing project, not a finished one. If you see something we've missed, gotten wrong, or would do differently, we'd genuinely love to hear it. Being a good citizen doesn't mean having all the answers, it means being willing to keep looking.
For internet privacy reasons, we don't publish our full names on the site. We're happy to introduce ourselves in a direct conversation. We look forward to hearing from you.
Email UsHow AI Is Used on This Site
Research, fact-checking, and drafting for Newport Beach Civic Ledger are done with the assistance of Claude, an AI system made by Anthropic, working from primary sources — city documents, court records, and established news coverage — which are cited throughout. Content is reviewed and maintained by the curator. This site is updated on an ongoing basis; each page shows when it was last checked. Because this involves AI-assisted research, readers are encouraged to click through to the original source for anything they intend to rely on or repeat elsewhere.
This site does not use language like "concerning" or "troubling." It presents what happened and lets you decide what you think about it.
