Our Policies and Standards

Last updated: July 23, 2026How claims are labeled

How the Newport Beach Civic Ledger operates: our corrections policy, sourcing standards, and privacy approach.

Corrections policy

Accuracy matters. If a factual error is found, it will be corrected promptly and a dated note will be added to the Update Log explaining what changed and why. Corrections are not hidden; they are logged so readers can see the evolution of a claim.

To suggest a correction, email hellonewportbeachcivicledger.org with the page URL, the claim in question, and the source that supports the correction.

Sourcing and reliability tags

Every significant claim on this site is labeled with a reliability tag: CONFIRMED, REPORTED, STATED, or UNCONFIRMED. These tags describe how close the claim is to a primary or verifiable source, not whether the claim is politically right or wrong. See How We Verify Facts for the full definitions.

Privacy

This site does not collect personal information through forms. The only public interactive feature is email, and addresses are handled by the site's email provider, not stored in a database here.

The site owner publishes under a pseudonym for internet-privacy reasons. That choice does not affect the sourcing standards applied to the content.
